Like wheat from chaff we need to sift
The seeds of our emotions.
What is it that we need to keep
That deserves our good devotion?
What bad thoughts and deeds and words
Prevent us from bearing fruit?
From all our efforts, toil and tears
Let something good take root.
Sin is a cherry, red and ripe
That beckons man to bite it,
But once the teeth have made their mark
It’s very hard to right it.
As we find the ties that bind
And seek to overcome them,
Let us free our hearts and minds
May glory surely come then.
Where angels always fear to tread
We’re sure to find a Muggle,
So help us heed Your Words so wise
And God save us from our struggle.
